Screenwriting Glossary of Terms

PASS / Pass

1. The industry rating indicating no interest. See also CONSIDER and RECOMMEND. Pass means “no thanks.” It does not mean you have “passed” a test. It means the people who read your script have elected to “pass” on your offer and toss your screenplay into the slush pile. See Slush Pile. See Silent Pass. 2. When television writers take a ‘pass’ on a script it indicates there will be subsequent notes and revisions.
