Archetype

Refers to ‘typical’ characters in a story or in life. There are eight primary models, but in film we usually categorize our characters from among 12 archetypes: Sage, Innocent, Explorer, Ruler, Creator, Caregiver, Magician, Hero, Outlaw, Lover, Jester, and Everyman.
